ASM Attends September CDC Division of Laboratory Systems Clinical Laboratory Partners Forum Meeting
On September 10, ASM staff joined public health and clinical laboratory stakeholders in a meeting of the CDC Division of Laboratory Systems Clinical Laboratory Partners Forum (CLPF). Much of the meeting focused on the topic of biosafety. Among the topics discussed were the APHL Report on Biosafety Outreach, preparedness training priorities for clinical laboratories, and improving the abilities of clinical laboratories to identify potential bioterrorism agents. Also discussed were laboratory access to training and workforce development issues. The purpose of the CLPF is to provide an opportunity for the CDC Division of Laboratory Systems and professional laboratory organizations to work together and share information relevant to clinical and public health laboratories, especially issues related to the laboratory workforce, biosafety, patient safety, and other emerging needs of the laboratory community.
