Archana Lal, Ph.D., is a professor of biology and is currently teaching at Labette Community College located in Parsons, Kansas. She mainly teaches principles of biology, microbiology and general biology courses. She is also involved in microbiology and biology education research, and her main focus is to develop content for better student understanding and retention of the subject matter.

In her own classrooms, Lal uses various active learning exercises and course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs). She is a member of ImmunoReach, a community of practice, and has been involved since its inception in 2019. With ImmunoReach group, she has been working on developing undergraduate immunology learning outcomes, core competencies and other projects. She has also developed interdisciplinary active learning exercises that can be used in multiple STEM disciplines.

Lal also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Microbiology and Biology Education (JMBE). She has been a member of ASM since 2006 and has been attending ASMCUE ever since. She served in the editorial committee of ASM Science Laboratory Protocol collection and contributed a few protocols in that collection. In addition, she loves to read, travel, visit museums, garden, solve jig-saw puzzles, embroider and tat.
