Amy Cheng Vollmer, Ph.D.
I have had the opportunity to combine my love of teaching and mentoring students with an active research program in at Swarthmore, where I have hosted over 80 students in my laboratory. The Microbial Stress Response community is my 'tribe'. A newer area of inquiry in my lab is a collaboration with my colleague Sara Hiebert Burch. We have studied the effect of dietary fatty acids on mouse microbiome profiles. Presently, we are investigating the hummingbird gut microbiome profiles and the influence of diet, migration, body fat, sex and age.
