Elizabeth Shank is currently an Associate Professor at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, but will be moving her lab to the Program in Systems Biology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in January 2020.  Her lab studies chemically mediated interactions between microbes and their hosts, specialized metabolite production, and cellular heterogeneity. She is enthusiastic not only about exploring the amazing things that microbes do, but also about mentoring others to become independent scientists able to pursue their own passions. Elizabeth is an editor at mSystems.
