Federico Sisti, Ph.D.
Institute of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology (IBBM) of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET)
Federico Sisti, Ph.D., is an independent researcher at the Institute of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology (IBBM) of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET). He obtained his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Exact Sciences at the National University of La Plata. Since then, he has focused his research on the infection process of Bordetella species. In recent years, Sisti’s laboratory has concentrated on studying the role of the second messenger c-di-GMP in the infection processes of Bordetella bronchiseptica and Bordetella pertussis.
Sisti adopts a collaborative approach to research, aiming not only to uncover new mechanisms of pathogenesis, but also to provide comprehensive training for his students. He serves as an associate professor at the Faculty of Exact Sciences, where he engages in weekly teaching activities. This role challenges him to stay updated and in touch with the new generation of scientists.
Sisti has been involved with ASM since the start of his career and is excited to take on this new challenge. Before joining the ASM Board, he served as Secretary of the Argentine Society for Biochemical Research, one of the oldest biological science societies in Argentina.
