Dr. Franz X. Bogner is a full professor and head of the Institute of Biology Education at the University of Bayreuth. Dr. Bogner has a Ph.D. in neurobiology and was a postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University. With a colleague of mathematics, he is the director of the Center of Math & Science Education.

In teaching, he and his team are mainly involved in pre-service teacher education and in-service teacher enhancement. He studies cognitive, emotional and attitudinal assessment of newly developed science education modules on genetics and “green” education initiatives.
