George Sprague

George Sprague

George Sprague is professor emeritus in the Department of Biology at the University of Oregon. His research interests center on transcription regulation and signal transduction in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. He served as Head of the Department of Biology for 10 years.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He served on the Board of Governors of the American Academy of Microbiology and the Board of Directors of the Genetics Society of America. He served as editor of Molecular and Cellular Biology and was on the editorial board of Cell.  He was chair of the American Cancer Society advisory panel on Virology and Molecular Genetics and was a longstanding member of the NIH Cell and Development fellowship panel.

He served as councilor for the ASM Division on Molecular, Cellular, and General Biology of Eukaryotes and is currently Division X representative on the ASM Council.
