Hamida Nusrat, Ph.D., P.H.M.(CDPH), S.M. (ASCP)CM
Hamida Nusrat, Ph.D., P.H.M.(CDPH), S.M. (ASCP)CM, holds dual faculty positions in the post-baccalaureate program at UC Berkeley, as well as in the CLS program at San Francisco State University. Nusrat received an M.S./Ph.D. degree in clinical microbiology and immunology from the University of Karachi, Pakistan and holds a certification in Public Health Microbiology from the California Department of Public Health and Specialist Microbiologist License from American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Nusrat acts as a liaison with county and state departments and agencies, and functions as LabAspire Program Coordinator of the state-wide PH lab network to sustain laboratory and personnel regulatory requirements for certifying PH Lab Directors. She is passionate about training students in various disciplines of clinical and public health microbiology on new methodologies of innovative diagnostic assays and received the ASM Peggy Cotter Travel Award in 2019.
