John Buchner, Ph.D.

John Buchner is a Lecturer at the University of Maryland, College Park. He completed a Ph.D. in at University of Georgia, studying DNA recombination. He teaches non-majors microbiology, where all students are trained to be microbiologists, microbiology for majors, microbial genetics labs, and teaching assistant training for undergraduate students. He is the Vice Chair of the Planning Committe for the ASM Conference for Undergraduate Educators, and published the Microbiology Concept Inventory with the ASM Task Force for Concept Inventories. He was a speaker in the 2020 Teaching Undergraduate Biology Webinar Series.
