Kasturi Haldar, Ph.D., is Rev. Julius A. Nieuwland C.S.C. Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame. She is also professor of anatomy and cell biology at Indiana University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on molecular, cellular and animal models host-pathogen interactions as well as clinical disease. Haldar served as the Parsons-Quinn Founding Director of the Boler-Parseghian Center for Rare and Neglected Diseases from 2008-2022 at the University of Notre Dame.

Haldar received her A.B. from Bryn Mawr College and Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Notre Dame, she was the Charles and Emma H. Professor of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Her research is currently focused on molecular and evolutionary mechanisms underlying drug resistance in apicomplexan parasites as well as monogenetic genetic disorders and associated immune dysfunction.

Haldar served as a founding Deputy Editor/Co-Editor in Chief of PLOS Pathogens from 2006-2023. Her work has been recognized by the Burroughs Wellcome New Investigator in Molecular Parasitology and the Burroughs Wellcome New Initiatives in Malaria Award. She has also been elected to the American Academy of Microbiology, fellow of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science.
