Laurence Clement

Laurence Clement is the Director of Research in Career Education and the Program Director of Academic Career Development at the University of California, San Francisco Office of Career and Professional Development. She also holds an Associate Adjunct Professor position in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at UCSF. Laurence develops and studies interventions that have the potential to broaden access to biomedical careers in academia. She designed the Academic Career Readiness Assessment or ACRA, which was awarded the 2019 Innovations in Research and Research Education prize by the American Association of Medical Colleges. She is currently a PI on a collaborative NSF grant with City College of San Francisco and is the co-Chair of the Graduate Career Consortium Education Research committee. Laurence trained as a science education researcher through the American Society for Microbiology's Biology Scholars Program. She holds a Ph.D. in Endocrinology and Cell Interactions from Université Paris-Sud, France, and trained as a postdoctoral fellow at UCSF.
