Luther Bartelt, M.D.

Luther is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). He received his medical degree from the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. He is particularly interested in emerging infections, tropical medicine and immunocompromised hosts, with a research focus on the role of environmental factors and malnutrition on susceptibility to, and severity of, infectious diseases. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Luther has led the implementation and analysis of the COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma (CCP) collection and treatment program at UNC.
