Megan Damico is an environmental health sciences Ph.D. candidate at the Raymann Lab at University of Carolina Greensboro, where she serves as the co-founder and Vice President of Spartans for Science and Policy. Damico is also the co-founder of North Carolina Students for Science Policy Coalition and the Southern Hub chair of the National Science Policy Network (NSPN). Damico is passionate about involving students in advocacy, and serves on NSPN’s graduate education committee and as a co-principal investigator for a national study assessing graduate student policy and resources. Damico is active in advocacy on a personal level through the NC Audubon Society, and has organized meetings with lawmakers for constituents, trained local participants, and recruited members. In 2020, Damico served as the University of North Carolina Association of Student Government’s Vice President of Graduate and Professional Student Affairs and organized the first-ever graduate and professional student day of advocacy where she trained students to discuss graduate and professional student issues with NC lawmakers.
