
Peter Oelschlaeger, Ph.D.

Dr. Peter Oelschlaeger is an associate professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, at Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) in Pomona, California. He completed a teaching degree in biology and chemistry and an M.S. degree in biology at the University of Hohenheim in Germany, followed by a Ph.D. degree in biology at the University of Stuttgart.
In 2002 he moved to the U.S. to do postdoctoral work at Caltech with Stephen L. Mayo, followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Southern California with Arieh Warshel. From 2007 to 2010 he was a faculty member in the Chemistry Department of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, after which he moved to WesternU.
For more than 20 years, Oelschlaeger's research interest has focused on metallo-beta-lactamases, employing both computational and experimental techniques.
