Pranav Danthi, Ph.D.
Indiana University
Pranav Danthi received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arkansas, focused on medical sciences investigating poliovirus biology. After completing his postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University, he started as an assistant professor in the Department of Biology at Indiana University in 2008. He was tenured and promoted to associate professor in 2016.
Dr. Danthi's laboratory performs structure-function studies of mammalian reovirus as a model to understand how non-enveloped viruses overcome the host membrane barrier to launch infection. The Danthi laboratory also investigates mechanisms by which interactions between viral components and host molecules results in the induction of cell death. He is a former Chair of the American Society of Virology Membership Review Committee. He currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Virology.
