Rachel Horak, Ph.D.

Rachel Horak, Ph.D. is a senior education specialist at ASM, and is interested in helping educators, at all career stages, design significant and effective learning experiences for all undergraduate biology students, regardless of background or preparation. She obtained her Ph.D. in biology at Georgia Tech, studying the nitrogen cycle in the oceans and symbiotic relationships and earning a Certificate for Instruction in Higher Education. In addition to publishing research as an ocean-going scientist, she has published biology education research, including assessment tools (Concept Inventories) for the microbiology classroom.
