Sharanie V. Sims, Pharm.D., MPH, BCPS, BCIDP, was born and raised in Cleveland. She received her B.S. in pharmaceutical sciences from The Ohio State University, MPH from George Washington University and Pharm.D. from Howard University. She completed a PGY-1 pharmacy residency at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System and PGY-2 infectious disease pharmacy residency at Cleveland Clinic.

After completing her residencies, Sims joined the faculty at Northeast Ohio Medical University as an assistant professor and infectious diseases clinical pharmacist at Cleveland Clinic Marymount. In 2010, she returned to the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System, where she spent 12 years as the clinical pharmacy specialist in infectious diseases, providing clinical pharmacy services for general infectious diseases, HIV, travel & preventative medicine and infections in immunocompromised hosts. In addition, she served as the PGY-2 infectious diseases pharmacy residency program director and preceptor for the PGY-1 and PGY-2 pharmacy residents and students.

Sims is a board-certified pharmacotherapy and infectious diseases specialist and is certified in advanced antimicrobial stewardship from MAD-ID. In 2022, she joined Pfizer as a field medical director, anti-infectives/antivirals specializing in COVID-19 education, prevention and management, with a focus on COVID-19-related disparities in underserved populations.
