Wendy Szymczak, Ph.D., D(ABMM), MLS(ASCP), is Director of Clinical Microbiology at Montefiore Medical Center and an associate professor in the Department of Pathology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Cincinnati and completed post-doctoral training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Szymczak is an editor for ASM's Microbiology Spectrum and the councilor for the New York City branch of the American Society for Microbiology. Her current research interests include developing whole genome sequencing pipelines for detecting pathogens, predicting antimicrobial resistance and epidemiologic surveillance.
