Dr. Wilbur Chen is a board-certified infectious disease physician-scientist and Chief of the Adult Clinical Studies section within the Center for Vaccine Development and Director of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Travel Medicine Practice.  His research is concentrated on developing strategies for protection against pathogens of global health importance, including vaccines against pandemic potential influenza vaccines and enteric pathogens. As a faculty member of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Chen is a passionate educator and has been awarded numerous teaching awards.
