William A. Meyer III, Ph.D., D(ABMM), MLS (ASCP)CM is a medical and technical laboratory consultant for the entire Quest Diagnostics organization. Meyer also has technical and consultative responsibility for the east region facilities' virology, mycology and molecular biology areas. In addition, Meyer is the scientific medical consultant for numerous NIH and CDC-funded laboratory testing-based research studies that come to Quest Diagnostics.
Meyer obtained his B.S. from Loyal College and his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He is a diplomate in the American Board of Medical Microbiology in Medical and Public Health Virology. He has co-authored over 200 laboratory-based research publications/conference abstracts dealing with infectious disease diagnosis, management and disease progression.
Meyer serves as chair of the NIH AIDS Program Virology Quality Assessment Advisory Board and is a long-standing member of the NIH MACS and WIHS Combined HIV Cohort Study Laboratory Committee. In addition, he has functioned as a protocol virologist for several NIH-funded protocols, including the following:
• Adult and Pediatric HIV Clinical Trials Groups (ACTG/IMPAACT).
• Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS).
• Adolescent Medicine Trials Network for HIV/AIDS Interventions (ATN).
