Only entries submitted to the contest theme of "Microbiology in Space" are eligible to win contest prizes. Judging for category prizes will be conducted entirely through voting by ASM Judges, while voting for "People's Choice" prizes will conducted via ASM's social media channels. Agar Art Contest judges include ASM members, past Agar Art contest winners and professional artists. Note that ratings are subjective and up to the discretion of the judges.

Entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

1. Overall
   • Theme: How well does the submission convey the theme of “Microbiology in Space?"
2. Image
   • Creativity: How creative and original is the subject matter and design?
   • Artistry of the piece: How intricate, detailed or difficult is the design produced?
   • Presentation: How well-made is the submission? Is it high-quality?
3. Description
   • Overall quality and accessibility: How informative and engaging is the description?
   • Scientific content: How accurate is any scientific information included in the description?

Categories

Prizes in the Professional, Creator and Open categories are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place submissions as voted on by ASM judges. People's Choice prizes for the individual categories will be chosen through voting on the ASM Facebook and Instagram pages.

• 2nd Place: $150 Visa gift card.
• 3rd Place: $100 Visa gift card.
• People's Choice: $50 Visa gift card.

Kids Category

Prizes in the Kids category are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place submissions as voted on by ASM judges.
