Public Policy and Science
The Public Policy and Science Track addresses issues at the intersection of microbiology and public policy. Relevant to researchers and clinicians in the public and private sectors, this track explores the role of science in shaping public policies and how policy decisions affect the field of microbiology. The track covers the broad set of disciplines that comprise microbiology, including basic research, One Health, biothreats, antimicrobial resistance, microbes and climate change, microbiome research and development and clinical microbiology and laboratory practices. The track will also address policies that impact the broader scientific enterprise, such as funding challenges, training, diversity, equity and inclusion.
