ASM NGS COVID-19 Full Statement

Updated: July 21, 2020

At ASM, we recognize that the evolving COVID-19 situation — including school closures, institutional travel restrictions, remote work policies and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s large gatherings recommendation are having a significant impact on everyone, including making decisions around travel and meeting attendance.

The ASM Conference on Rapid Applied Microbial Next-Generation Sequencing and Bioinformatic Pipelines (NGS) is currently planned for Oct. 23–26, 2020 and ASM is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation for any potential impact on the meeting.

We know many of you are trying to make plans and that things are uncertain, especially given travel restrictions from your institutions, the challenges at home posed by school closures and other social distancing measures and the fluid nature of the situation. We want to help as much as we can by being as flexible as possible. If the meeting is cancelled, refunds for registration will be returned in full beginning 30 business days after the meeting dates.

In the meantime, please refer to ASM's COVID-19 resource page and follow ASM’s social media channels (FacebookTwitter and Instagram) for the most up-to-date information about the virus, the disease it causes and any impact on ASM meetings. We will also notify all meeting participants through email as needed. Additionally, Washington, D.C. is also posting information about visitor health and wellness.
