This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the organization’s financial assets, liabilities, and activities. The Senior Accountant performs daily accounting functions to include recording transactions and reporting results in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); analyzing and reconciling accounts; researching transactions; and maintaining adequate accounting records. This position supports the goals of the department and the mission of ASM.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Propose entries to properly account for financial transactions in accordance with GAAP
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Prepare account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Research and analyze account information as needed or as requested
  • Recommend accounting treatment of financial transactions
  • Assist with preparation of periodic financial statements and ad hoc financial reports
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of the organization’s financial systems
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting processes and procedures on an ongoing basis
  • Assist in the annual financial and any other audits as required
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
  • At least 5 years prior experience as an accountant or auditor in public practice
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred but not required
