Daniel R. Brown, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the University of Florida. Brown received his B.S. in Agriculture from Purdue University in 1978, an M.S. in Animal Science from Louisiana State University in 1980 and a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Arizona in 1987. His expertise includes pathogen discovery, cellular microbiology and applied bacterial systematics with a focus on Mycoplasma spp. and related organisms. Brown is a former Executive Board member of the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes, has served as chairman of the International Organization for Mycoplasmology and has been chairman, advisor and councilor for the American Society for Microbiology's Division G (Mycoplasmology).
