Dilfuza Egamberdieva, Ph.D., is the deputy director of the International Center for Strategic Development and Research in Food and Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture. She received her Ph.D. in agricultural sciences from Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. She is a pioneer in research on the soil and plant microbiome. She conducted her postdoctoral research at the University of Helsinki; the University of Florence; Manchester Metropolitan University and Leiden University. She later continued her research at the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research and the Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Her outstanding contributions to microbiology have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Springer Nature Award (2024), the UNESCO–Carlos J. Finlay Prize for Microbiology (2023) and the Scopus Regional Award (2019). She is also a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2014), the TWAS Award in Agricultural Sciences (2013), the L’Oréal–UNESCO Fellowship for Women in Science (2006) and the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Award (2005). Egamberdieva has been appointed as a member of the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) under the Committee on World Food Security, and she has served as a country ambassador for ASM. She is a member of the Global Young Academy, The World Academy of Sciences and the Islamic World Academy of Sciences. She has authored and co-authored over 200 research articles and edited 6 books published by Springer and Elsevier.
