Emmanuel Adukwu, Ph.D., is Dean of Students and professor of Applied Microbiology at the University of the West of England, Bristol. He was previously Deputy Head of the School of Applied Sciences. Adukwu's research focuses on antimicrobial chemotherapy, resistance and stewardship. He is a member of the board of trustees at Applied Microbiology International, U.K.'s oldest microbiology society. He is actively involved in maximizing opportunities for underrepresented communities in academia and the life sciences, through his work as member of the advisory board for the Black in Biomedical Research Advisory Group (BBRAG) for the Medical Research Council (MRC) at U.K. Research and Innovation and Chair of the Minoritised Life Scientists Future Forum (MLSFF). He was the winner of the Royal Society of Biology’s Bioscience Teacher of the Year award in 2023, recognizing his outstanding contribution to learning and teaching practices as well as advancing employability and careers.
