
JeanMarie Calvillo, Ph.D.
JeanMarie Calvillo, Ph.D., trained as a research microbiologist in environmental microbiology at Cornell University in Martin Alexander’s laboratory. Her doctoral work focused on the bioremediation of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the Hudson River. Her science writing skills earned her a fellowship with the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Calvillo most recently worked as a research microbiologist in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Washington in the laboratory of Professor Emeritus David A. Stahl. She now applies her expertise in microbiology to 3D animation and visual storytelling using Blender, specializing in illustrating microbiological concepts.
