Melissa Junior serves as the Chief Publishing Officer for the American Society for Microbiology (ASM). As Chief Publishing Officer, she oversees consolidation of the Society's 15 journals and ASM Press books under ASM Publishing. She also led the transition to a Subscribe to Open (S2O) publishing model for the 2025 subscription year for ASM's 6 subscription journal titles. Junior brings more than 30 years of expertise in scientific publishing, including 12 years leading ASM Journals.

Junior graduated with a B.A. in English and French from Dickinson College in 1989. She earned an MBA from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2004.
