Mimi Rey Precit, Ph.D., D(ABMM), M(ASCP)CM, is the Director of the Clinical Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at Providence Health and Services in the Oregon region. She completed her graduate work at the University of Washington, where she studied Staphylococcus aureus pathogenesis in cystic fibrosis patients. Following her Ph.D., she completed 2 postdoctoral fellowships; the first with the APHL Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory Network at Washington State Public Health Laboratories, where she helped establish antimicrobial susceptibility testing and the antimicrobial resistance surveillance program for the West Region.
Precit then went on to complete a CPEP clinical and public health microbiology fellowship with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, an affiliate of the University of Southern California. Before her current rolw, she was previously the Associate Medical Director of Microbiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center and assistant professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Precit is board certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM) and retains certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in microbiology.
