Omar A. Oyarzabal, D.V.M., Ph.D.

Dr. Omar A. Oyarzabal received his D.V.M. from National University of Río Cuarto and his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in microbiology/food safety from Auburn University. Dr. Oyarzabal is currently the Vice President of Technical Services at IEH Laboratories and Consulting Group, Adjunct Associate Professor in Microbiology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Ala., and Affiliate Associate Professor at the Institute of Microbiology, Universidad Austral in Valdivia, Chile. Dr. Oyarzabal’s expertise is the identification and typing of bacterial foodborne pathogens, with emphasis on Campylobacter spp. Dr. Oyarzabal is the co-editor of Microbial Food Safety: An Introduction, published by Springer-Verlag (New York) and DNA Methods in Food Safety: Molecular Typing of Foodborne and Waterborne Bacterial Pathogens, published by Wiley-Blackwell (United Kingdom).
