Dr. Payal Maharaj received her Ph.D. in Comparative Pathology (focused on vector-borne diseases) from the University of California, Davis. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at both Iowa State University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Maharaj's research is focused on investigating mechanisms of arbovirus pathogenesis. She is also passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of microbiologists.
