Rachel Burckhardt, Ph.D., is a program officer for the American Academy of Microbiology at ASM. In this position, she supports the Scientific Portfolio on Climate Change and Microbes by organizing multiple colloquia and scientific sessions on microbes’ role in climate change. Previously, she was a Scientific Literature Reviewer at ASM where she connected scientists to the latest COVID-19 research. She earned her Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Georgia studying bacterial physiology and antimicrobial resistance.
