Yanan Zhoa, Ph.D.

Dr. Yanan (Nancy) Zhoa is an assistant member of the Center of Discovery and Innovation (CDI) at Hackensack Meridian Health and an associate professor at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
Zhoa holds a Bachelor of Medicine in Preventive Medicine, a Master in Epidemiology and a Ph.D. in Molecular Epidemiology. Before joining CDI 2 years ago, she was an assistant professor at the Public Health Research Institute of Rutgers University. Her research focuses on preclinical studies of antifungal and antimicrobial drugs and rapid molecular diagnostics of various fungal infections and associated drug resistance.
She has led multiple drug development projects funded by NIH and pharmaceutical companies. Her innovative work on developing molecular diagnostics for various pathogens and drug resistance has resulted in numerous successes with funding awards and the commercialization of diagnostic tests in clinical settings. Zhoa holds a few patents and has over 60 peer-reviewed publications. She is also a member of the editorial board for Microbial Drug Resistance and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for many prestigious scientific journals.
