What You Need to Submit Your Abstract

  1. Abstract Title: Please provide a brief and descriptive title that clearly reflects the content of your abstract. (Note: The title is not included in the 2200-character limit for the abstract).

  2. Presenting Author: The individual submitting the abstract must be the presenting author. Each presenting author is allowed to submit up to 2 abstracts. Abstracts cannot be submitted on behalf of another author.

  3. Author(s) Information: Include the full name(s), institution(s), location(s) and title(s) of all contributing authors.

  4. Topic Selection: To facilitate appropriate review and programming, abstracts are categorized into different topics. Please choose the topic that best aligns with your abstract’s content, as this will determine the reviewers. The ASM Biofilms Program Committee reserves the right to reassign your abstract to a more fitting topic if necessary.

  5. Abstract Structure: Abstracts should follow a complete structure and include the following components:

    1. Background.
    2. Methods.
    3. Results.
    4. Conclusions.

  6. Abstract Body Text: Your abstract may contain up to 2200 characters, not including the title, authors, affiliations or group information. Tables and graphics (up to 500 characters) are included in the character count. Spaces are not counted toward the character limit. Please refrain from including abstract titles, authors or keywords within the abstract body text. You may submit your abstract via copy/paste, direct entry or file upload.
