Abstract Guidelines

Focus Areas for Submission
Researchers working in the following areas are encouraged to submit their work for consideration at the symposium.
  • Sensing and Response: examining how microbes detect and react to environmental signals.
  • Host–Microbe Crosstalk: exploring interactions that influence health and disease.
  • Community Behavior: highlighting dynamics within microbial communities.
  • Evolution and Adaptation: addressing mechanisms driving microbial diversity.
  • Decoding With Data: showcasing how genomics, multi-omics and computational tools are enabling new discoveries in microbial biology.
     

General Guidelines
  • The abstract submitter must be the first/presenting author. One presenting author per abstract.
  • An abstract may only be submitted once. It is the responsibility of the first/presenting author to get approval of all co-authors before placing their names on an abstract.  
  • Each presenter can submit up to 1 abstract only. The presenting author must be registered by Aug. 15, 2026, or the abstract will be withdrawn.  
  • Please note that the registration fee is already subsidized to ensure broad and equitable participation. Therefore, individual waiver requests cannot be accommodated. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us extend this benefit fairly to all participants. 
  • The presenter agrees to register for the symposium and be available to present at the auditorium, CSIR-IGIB, Mathura Road campus in New Delhi on Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2026. Remote presentation formats are not available. 
  • The presenting author is responsible for all expenses and documentation related to the presentation of their abstract(s) if accepted to the program. ASM or CSIR-IGIB do not provide funding, registration waivers or other support unless specified. If you require a visa support letter to attend the conference, please write to us at asm2026.igib@csir.res.in. We encourage international participants to apply for their visas well in advance.
  • Abstracts must be well written and easy to understand, with results clearly presented.  
  • Abstracts must be written in English.  
  • Submission deadlines are firm. Late abstracts will not be accepted. 
  • Rejected abstracts may not be edited or resubmitted. 
  • Programming decisions are considered final. Once sessioned, an abstract will not be moved to another day. 

Abstract Formatting

Abstract Title

  • Please use a short and concise title that indicates the content of the abstract.

Author Information 

  • All author name(s), institution(s), location(s), title(s) must be included. 

Abstract Body Text

  • Your abstract may have up to 200 words, which does not include title, authors, groups and affiliations. 
  • Tables and graphics are not included in the character count. 
  • Spaces are not counted. Do not include abstract titles, authors or keywords in abstract text. 
  • Abstract text may be submitted using the following methods: either copy/paste, direct-entry keystrokes or file upload. 
  • Your abstract must be written without the use of the following bolded headers: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion. 
  • Follow the abstract guidelines to ensure all required information about your study is provided in your abstract. 

Poster Formatting
  • A0 Size: 118.8 cm (height) x 84.1 cm (width), portrait (vertical).
  • Font: Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman.
  • Please note that poster presenters must print their posters in English and are responsible for printing their posters. ASM and CSIR-IGIB will not provide printing services for the symposium.

Visa Letters

If you require a visa support letter to attend the symposium, please write to hosts from CSIR-IGIB at asm2026.igib@csir.res.in. We encourage international participants to apply for their visas well in advance.
