Decoding the Data: Regression Analysis

Video Notes

This module provides an explanation of what a regression analysis is and when is the appropriate time to use it. Regression analysis provides a statistical framework to observe the relationship between 2 or more variables of interest. The module describes the statistical components of a regression analysis and demonstrates how to plot data points on a graph to visualize the relationship between the variables.

Additionally, random errors are incorporated into the statistical formula to compensate for factors that can alter the statistics. Illustrations are given on how these errors can affect the expected and observed data and how to minimize the effects of these errors. Furthermore, a few assumptions must be considered to use the statistical formula properly. Two extra statistical tools were included to provide a guide to the significance of the relationship between variables within the regression analysis.
